Steps to Starting a Chapter

Follow this step-by-step checklist for starting your new chapter. You will see that DECA/Delta Epsilon Chi does not make you jump through a lot of hoops to get started. All you do is submit your chapter members (online) and send in their dues. Most of what you do is just satisfy your school’s requirements for starting an on-campus student organization.

	Step 1: Explore Decide how to best position your new chapter and find out your school’s guidelines for starting a chapter.
	Step 2: Recruit Identify potential leaders to form your core group or organizers.
	Step 3: Organize Get your core group together to organize the process of starting a chapter.
	Step 4: Support Identify one or more potential advisors (may also be called sponsors) of your chapter.
	Step 5: Establish Meet all campus requirements to be recognized as an official campus organization.
	Step 6: Promote Promote your new campus organization to other potential members.
	Step 7: Celebrate Bring your chapter members together for a kick-off meeting to celebrate your new chapter and plan your first year’s activities.
